Individualized Rapid Assessment Tool   The I-RAT is based on WHO's Rapid Assessment Tool (RAT). The RAT is part of WHO's overall strategy to reduce the disease burden caused by poor healthcare waste management (HCWM) through the promotion of best practices and the development of safety standards. Unlike the RAT which evaluates the HCWM situation on a national level, the UNDP GEF Project's I-RAT is intended for use at the individual healthcare facility level using many of the same topics found in the RAT. The I-RAT results in a score or numerical value which can be used to compare with other healthcare facilities. Using the I-RAT with many hospitals in the country can help Ministries of Health prioritize the facilities that require immediate attention.
